Meaning Map: AI-Powered Word Guessing Game

Meaning Map is one of DropSpace's most innovative game modes. Inspired by Wordle but with a completely different mechanic, this game requires you to find the hidden word using semantic similarity instead of direct guessing.

How Does It Work?

Basic Mechanic

1. Hidden Word: A secret word is set daily (or per match)
2. Guess: You type and submit a word
3. Feedback: The AI shows how semantically close your guess is to the hidden word as a percentage
4. 2D Map: Each guess lands as a point on the map - closer to center means you're on the right track!

What is Semantic Similarity?

AI models represent words as vectors in a multi-dimensional space. The distance between two word vectors indicates how similar their meanings are.

Example:

• "happiness" ↔ "joy" → 85% (very close)
• "dog" ↔ "cat" → 65% (similar category)
• "car" ↔ "music" → 15% (distant)

Game Modes

🎯 Daily Puzzle (Single Player)

• Same word for everyone each day
• Maximum 8 attempts
• Share results with friends
• Wordle-style viral sharing

⚔️ Multiplayer

• 2 players guess the same word
• 60 seconds time limit
• First to find or fewer attempts wins

Scoring System

Score = Base + Bonus - Penalty

Base = 1000
Penalty = Attempts × 80
Bonus = max(0, 400 - (100 - Similarity%) × 4)

Example:

• Found with 95% similarity on 3rd attempt
• Score = 1000 - (3×80) + max(0, 400 - 20) = 1000 - 240 + 380 = 1140

Strategies

1. Start Broad

Try general categories first:

• Words like "happiness", "nature", "technology"
• Narrow down the category showing high similarity

2. Use Synonyms

When you get high similarity:

• Try synonymous words
• Make derivations from the same word family

3. Follow the Map

On the 2D map:

• Red dots = distant
• Yellow dots = medium
• Green dots = close
• Center = target!

4. 8-Attempt Strategy

• 1-2: Broad category scanning
• 3-4: Category narrowing
• 5-6: Synonym attempts
• 7-8: Final guesses
